Your preschooler’s play!
Nothing is more contagious than the affection and energy gained from your preschooler during play. Your tot’s looking for new challenges that nurture his development and looking to you to share in the fun.
- This springtime, be sure to get outside. Ask your child to sort the different shaped leaves that return to bloom.
- Use a magnifying glass to watch the ants stroll down a trail and take turns guessing where the trail will end.
- Hide n’ seek games follow the traditional peek-a-boo fun that your baby once thrived on and a great way to get some of that energy out.
- Grab a spot on the grass to lie down and watch in wonder as the clouds move to morph into fantasy creatures.
- Weather got you trapped in doors? That’s okay! Use bean bags to bowl down empty plastic bottles or cut 2-litter milk bottles in half and roll a small ball back and forth to scoop it up using your homemade glove.
- Challenge his pretend play capabilities and use playdoh, animal and people figurines or toy kitchen sets. Bring out wacky objects that encourages them to be particularly inventive.
- Use old clothes, sheets and towels to make costumes and engage in role or fantasy play and release the inner child in you.
Play at this stage of the game does not simply translate into buying the most expensive item from the toy store. Relish in this time of his life where materialism does not reign and creativity proves to be more magical than any store bought fun.
