Items to keep in your family's car
It’s probably a minor miracle that you managed to get all your kids, their backpacks, homework, lunches, your purse and your sanity in the car this morning. Forgetting anything? For most of us, our car serves a second home and it is important to stock your car full of essentials in case you are ever in need.
- If you have a baby, the endless bag of goodies necessary for any adventure include diapers, blankets, powder, tissues, lotion, and food or formula if your baby is not breastfeeding.
- Having a bag with an extra set of clothes is always a good idea should the inevitable chocolate milk spill down your son’s shirt on the way to school for picture day.
- Antibacterial or baby wipes can be also be stored to quickly clean up your daughter’s sticky fingers before she hands in her homework.
- Emergency information including important phone numbers and car insurance should be kept together in the glove department.
- ID cards for every family member are also a good idea. Include full names, birth dates, allergies or other pertinent medical conditions.
- If you and your child require any medications, such as an asthma inhaler, store an additional one in the car as well. A first aid kit is always essential.
- Throw a large bottle of water in the trunk and maybe an umbrella as well for the water that suddenly falls from the sky.
- A flashlight- don’t forget fresh batteries
- Maybe have a secret stash of preserved food to tone down the cranky hunger pains on a long ride home or sudden detour.
Stocking your car full of your family’s needs ensures that you are prepared no matter the situation
